PetroBench runs one hosted MCP server at app.petrobench.com/mcp. Connect the AI tool your company already uses and it gets the platform's tools: find wells, read equipment, run simulations, read results. This page covers the four tools teams ask about most. Any other MCP-compatible tool connects the same way.
Before you start
You need a PetroBench login. Some tools also need a paid plan or an admin who allows custom connectors; that's noted per tool below. The server URL is the same everywhere: https://app.petrobench.com/mcp. When the tool asks you to sign in, use your PetroBench account. If your company uses SSO, that applies here too.
Claude
On a Pro or Max plan, open Customize, then Connectors. Select the plus button, then Add custom connector. Paste the server URL and select Add.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it first under Organization settings, then Connectors: Add, Custom, Web, paste the URL, Add. Each member then opens Customize, then Connectors, finds PetroBench and selects Connect.
In a conversation, select the plus button, then Connectors, and turn PetroBench on. The Connected apps page in PetroBench Settings shows the same steps under Claude.

Custom MCP connectors work on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education plans. On Business and Enterprise, an admin first allows them under Workspace settings, Permissions and roles, Connected data.
Open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode. Back in Apps, select Create. Name it PetroBench, give it a one-line description (the model reads it when deciding whether to use the connector), paste the server URL, and save. Sign in when prompted.
Gemini
Custom apps are added in the Gemini web app and then work on mobile too. Go to gemini.google.com, select Settings and help at the bottom, then Connected apps. Under Custom apps, select Add a custom app, paste the server URL, and select Next. Sign in when prompted. Today this needs a personal Google account; check Google's current requirements for your region.
On Gemini Enterprise, a team admin adds it under Manage team, then Connected apps, then Add MCP Server.
Grok
Go to grok.com/connectors. Select New Connector, then Custom. Paste the server URL and sign in. Grok discovers the tools and they show up in your conversations next to the built-in ones.
What to check
Ask the tool to list your wells. If it returns wells from your organization, the connection works. If you see fewer tools than a colleague, that's your PetroBench role: the tool list matches your permissions. Every call the tool makes shows in the audit log under your name.
For IT
Approve the tool as an application, then approve the server. The PetroBench MCP server is one HTTPS endpoint. Sign-in is OAuth tied to the person's PetroBench login, tools are scoped by role, and every call is in the audit log. To revoke access, remove the connector in the tool or deactivate the user in PetroBench. The trust center at docs.petrobench.com/trust has the rest.
